Boy Meets Boy: Episode 3
"Now it's not just buddies hanging out.it's who do I want to date." —James
Nighttime brings out intimate talk and personal revelations from our housebound housemate. Michael confesses that he is attracted to both sexes, stunning several of other guys, most notably Brian. But later Brian offers a revelation of his own: his attention is divided between Leading Man James and fellow Mate Dan.
Coincidentally, Dan is also the topic of conversation over at James and Andra's residence. He's told two markedly different stories to each, and they have to wonder if Chris, his close pal back in New York, is more of a boy friend or a boyfriend.
With dawn comes another day and another crowd in the Mates' House bathroom. Things get a little naughty as Robb and Brian flirt with a showering Dan, who obliges them with a tantalizing butt-against-shower-door display.
Not far away, James and Andra share a true Will & Grace moment as he helps her pick out her attire for the day. But it's not all merriment; James grows ever more aware that his time is winding down. Every passing minute brings him closer to another difficult elimination. Today, he must focus on finding out who is truly interested in him and who isn't.
"Matt is a very.sincere guy." —James
James, Andra and half the guys (Dan, Brian, Darren, Matthew & Michael) pile into the car for a trip to the Living Desert and a wildlife encounter featuring turtles and snakes. Before long, it's time for the first one-on-one of the day. This one is ladies' choice and Andra chooses Matt.
As they stroll through the zoo, James and Matt have a serious talk about expectations and aspirations. Over a snack of root beer floats and (appropriately enough) animal crackers, Matt confesses that while he's physically attracted to James, he has yet to feel a strong emotional connection. While James appreciates his honesty, it may turn out that Matt has just written his own ticket home.
"There once was a man in WeHo." —Darren
Back at the house, James and the guys settle in for lunch. Darren attempts to seize the moment with an off-color (and heavily bleeped) poem. While his verse gets Darren a good laugh and lots of attention, James later admits that he finds such boldness a bit too extreme.
Seizing a moment of her own, Andra pulls aside James and Dan so that Dan can finally straighten out his contradictory tales. The men have a private discussion but the truth remains elusive.
Out of the frying pan and into the Disco Inferno: up next, queer karaoke with James, Andra, Wes, Robb, Sean, Franklin and your drag queen hostess, the fabulous Miss Coco Peru.
To start things off, everyone has a go at "I Will Survive." The most surprising performance is given by Sean: a no-singing, all-dirty dancing rendition. The festivities continue with a group performance of "It's Raining Men," which for James it certainly is.
"I totally fell for him today. For me, the game is over." —Wes
For a romantic duet, Andra once again gets to pick James' partner. This time she passes the mic to Wes in appreciation for the emotional support he delivered during James' rock-climbing odyssey. Although Wes struggles with the lyrics, he makes the most of his moment and ends the song feeling confident that real sparks were flying.
"The elimination is horrible. Really, really terrible." —James
As always, decision time arrives and hard choices must be made. Again the mates are divided into three groups of three, from each of which James must drop one unlucky fellow. As an added twist, Andra is given "veto power" that she can use to rescue one of the guys that James elects to eliminate. Her veto goes unused, however, as James bids goodbye to the admirably honest Matt as well as closeted straight men Michael and Dan. And then there were six.
"It's not easy to fit in when you have to pretend to be something you're not." —Dan
